Costa das Baleias - Whale Coast
Located on the southern tip of the state of Bahia, the Tourism Zone of the Whale Coast encompasses about 190 km of coastline.
Beautiful beaches, many of them still deserted, cliffs, the National Marine Park of Abrolhos, islands, reefs, rivers, mangroves, Atlantic Forest, the Whale Coast is great for water sports and ecotourism.
Between July and November, the coastline of the Whale Coast is a great natural spectacle scenario - when humpback whales visit the warm and calm waters for reproduction.
Humpback whales, up to 18 meters long, stand out from other species by curiosity and impressive figures, sometimes leaping with such strong impulses that the whole body is out of the water. This gave them the nickname "acrobat whales."
Divergent from some other tourist areas of the Bahia coast is the complete absence of large cities on the coast of the Whale Coast, no city of the five counties exceeds 20000 inhabitants.
